

Estibaliz Santamaría Cadaval
She is the creator and director of Unha Noite, a cultural initiative that transforms research into living experiences such as concerts, exhibitions, workshops, and silent films with live music.
She holds a PhD in Musicology with International Distinction from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Master’s in Music Education. She also completed a Professional Degree in Piano and has formal training in Galician bagpipes, a discipline in which she pursued professional studies. Her career bridges dissemination and research, focusing on the connections between music, identity, and memory, particularly in the context of Galician culture.
Born and raised in Galicia, she has developed her career in Spain, France, Norway, Cuba, and the United States, participating in intercultural projects, conferences, and research residencies. Currently, at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, she continues her academic and teaching work, investigating the Galician presence in the Americas with support from the Modern Languages Department and the Cuban Research Institute, while pursuing a second PhD in Literature and Film Adaptations.
With a committed, reflective, and creative perspective, her work integrates music, cinema, and literature to give voice to Galician memory and identity, weaving bridges between territories, eras, and forgotten narratives.
